How can I best prepare for my waxing service?

Our quality waxes and highly trained wax experts make it easy for you to experience a pain-free waxing service. We recommend taking (1-2) ibuprofen before your first service, as long as it does not interfere with your physicians orders. Also avoiding caffeine and alcohol consumption, which can actually make you more sensitive. Pregnancy and menstrual cycles can also make you somewhat more sensitive due to hormonal fluctuations.

Do you use hard or soft wax? And what is the difference between the two types of wax?

For sensitive areas, such as bikini, underarms, Brazilian waxing services, we customize the choice of wax based on your personal preferences and needs, but traditionally use hard wax in these more sensitive areas. Hard waxes are known for their specialized use in sensitive areas of the body, and work efficiently by only adhering to the hair (by way of encapsulation of the hair) and specifically do not adhere to the skin itself, resulting in less irritation and redness post waxing, a favorite of seasoned waxers. Our facial waxing services are completed with a specialized sugar based wax that is exceptional for the sensitive areas of the face. For your body waxing needs (i.e. Legs, arms, back, etc) we use our specially formulated soft waxes that have honey, argan oil, and zinc oxide to soothe and calm skin post-waxing service.

What are the steps in your waxing process?

We use a carefully crafted and unique FOUR-STEP process to successfully wax the skin.

CLEANSE - We begin your waxing service by cleansing the skin to free it from bacteria that could potentially irritate the skin post waxing.

PREP - We then prep the skin with an all natural, plant based powder that free of talc, gluten, and soy. This assures that we remove surface oils and protect the skin for the wax service.

REMOVE - We then use our customized waxes to completely remove all hair in the desired areas.

SOOTHE - And finally we soothe the waxed areas with an all natural, dye-free, paraben free, aloe and calendula based gels that are also oil free and will never clog your pores.

How long does the hair need to be for my waxing service?

We recommend that the hair be 1/4-1/2 inch in length for optimal results. The length of a grain of rice is a good indicator of proper length. If the hair is excessively long, we encourage you to use specialized trimmers to shorten the length of the hair before your service, particularly in the Brazilian/bikini areas to minimize pulling or matting with the wax. If our wax technicians spend time trimming the area (5 or more minutes) an additional cost may be incurred.

What should I avoid before my waxing service?

For your safety and comfort our wax technicians complete a thorough verbal and written intake process with you as our guest. However, there are certain activities that should be avoided several days/weeks before your waxing service, those include use of tanning beds, shaving, recent cosmetic procedures such as microdermabrasion treatments, chemical peels, botox injections, topical prescription creams (skin exfoliating agents) i.e. Vitamin A derivative products-( Retin-A/Renova/Tazarac, Differin, Acutane, Salicylic Acid, Benzoyl Peroxide, Glycolic Acid/Alpha-hydroxy Acids (AHAs)

*Clients must refrain from use of these products at least 1 to 2 weeks before waxing services can be completed

Can I wax while on my period or during my menstrual cycle?

Yes, our wax technicians are completely comfortable waxing during this time. However, for your comfort we encourage you to work towards getting yourself on a maintenance program that avoids hair removal 2-3 days prior to the beginning of your cycle and 2–3 days post menstrual cycle, due to fluctuations of hormones which can make your more sensitive to pain.

How should I care for my skin afterwards?

Brazilian waxing aftercare includes the instructions of keeping the waxed area clean, and avoid heat and friction during the next 24 to 48 hours. This includes:

- No hot baths or showers (washing with cool or lukewarm water is fine).

- No saunas, hot tubs or steam rooms.

- No tanning (sunbathing, sunbeds or fake tans).

- No sport, gym work or other exercise.

- No sexual activity.

*Avoid touching the waxed skin with unwashed hands and take particular care with cleanliness after using the toilet.

- Wear clean underwear and avoid friction from tight clothing.

- Avoid swimming.

Do not apply deodorants, body sprays, powders, lotions or other products to the area, other than those recommended by your therapist.

To soothe and protect the skin, apply an antiseptic cream to the waxed area regularly for 3 days following your treatment. Always wash your hands before applying any product.

Using an antibacterial skin wash or adding a cup of Epsom salt to your bathwater will help prevent infection over the next few days, and will also assist the healing process should any pimples appear.
